7. Donazioni

1. What Lattice is

Lattice is an open encrypted-communication protocol and a network of independent nodes. By using the app or the site you accept these terms. No commercial account is needed: your identity is a key file living on your device.

2. The keys are yours, and so is the responsibility

The private key never leaves your device and we hold no copy. If you lose it without an encrypted backup, nobody can recover your identity or your messages: that is not a failure, it is the very condition that makes it impossible for us (or for anyone ordering us) to read you.

3. Permitted use

Use the network in compliance with applicable law. It must not be used for crimes, harassment, distributing illegal material, attacking the nodes or circumventing technical limits. Nodes apply automatic defences (Sentinel) against abuse and overload: they may throttle or cut traffic that puts them at risk.

4. What we cannot do, by design

We cannot read content, we cannot deliver messages that no longer exist on the server, we cannot restore a deleted identity. To an authority's request we can only hand over what exists: a network name, a public key, technical counters. We do not keep what is not needed to run the network.

5. Service provided as is

The network is offered "as is", with no guarantee of continuous availability. We do what we can to keep it standing — replication across three countries, surviving mail, automatic defences — and the real status is public at network health. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect damages arising from outages.

6. Code and licence

The code is published under the Business Source License 1.1 (BSL 1.1): you may read, verify, modify and use it, including running your own node; competing commercial use is subject to the licence conditions until the change date to an open licence. Release fingerprints are published and verifiable.

7. Donations

Bitcoin contributions support the nodes and the development. They are donations: they grant no right to a service, to a share of the project or to a refund.

8. Changes and termination

If these terms change, the date above changes with them. You can stop using the network at any time by deleting your identity from the app.
